Description/achievement of initiative

The partnership would provide an important platform and forum for exchange and experiences in the region on addressing the significant lack of progress towards the water and sanitation targets of the MDGs, as well as looking forward to the post-2015 SDG framework. Most importantly, the partnership would enable improved advocacy across various platforms for SIDS-specific issues and solutions

Implementation methodologies

The Objective of the Partnership will be achieved by:-Coordination, communication and consultation for the development of the regional framework and ensuring an effective Pacific voice to key global and regional processes scheduled for the 2014-2015 financial year; -SPC and PIC water sector participation in the partnership dialogue of the 3rd International Conference on SIDS (TBC);-Effective engagement of civil society groups in the partnership to enable their contribution the regional framework;-Development of awareness and advocacy products to support the framework and its effective input to key global and regional processes (this would include web-based information-sharing and advocacy tools);-Facilitation by the partnership of Pacific leaders™ input to the 7th World Water Forum (March 2015).

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

Development of web based information and other advocacy tools (National Water, Sanitation and Climate Outlooks). A revised pacificwater website to be re-launched to provide a mechanism for information sharing, awareness raising, advocacy and consultation on the new Pacific Regional Framework for Water and Sanitation which is currently under development. The partnership would provide an important platform and forum for exchange and experiences in the region on addressing the significant lack of progress towards the water and sanitation targets of the MDGs, as well as looking forward to the post-2015 SDG framework

Coordination mechanisms/governance structure

SPC will be the main coordinating agency with regular consultations from stakeholders and countries.
